For Addicts and Alcoholics

Knowledge of our condition alone will not get us clean and sober. But, it is an important tool. By understanding how these substances – alcohol, opiates, cocaine, cannabinoids, stimulants, etc. – affect our brain, body, thought processes, and actions we can recognize what is going on inside of us and no longer take a blind approach to freeing ourselves from substance use.

You will find mixed in with the knowledge many ways to address the effects of these substances on us, but also a common theme that seeking and accepting help is the only way to go about this for many of us.

Many people can one day recognize that they are drinking or using too much, and simply walk away from it. Those of us who can’t need to make recovery a part of our daily life. Just using pure will-power to not drink or use anymore seldom lasts for long. A program of recovery that helps us to address all the mental baggage we have on our shoulders that keeps us drinking or using is a time-proven way to find not only recovery but also peace of mind. We need to learn to live life without using substances as a crutch. Many of us haven’t done that for a very long time.
